The Minister of the Economy, Nir Barkat, met today (Sunday) with the CEO of the Central Soft Drinks Company, Nir Levinger, as part of the round of meetings the minister holds with the heads of the food companies.
Minister Barkat agreed with Levinger that the central company for soft drinks will cancel the planned price increase of its products.
The company owns the following brands: Coca Cola, Sprite, Fuse T, Frigate, Fanta, Kinley, Soda, Neviot, Carlsberg, Toborg, Terra, Mesk Tsuriel and Tabor Winery.

This morning the Minister of Economy began the warning meetings with the heads of food companies, due to the wave of price increases in the economy.
The meetings were held in front of "Sugat" and "Ahava" and later he will meet with senior officials from other companies.
However, it has not yet been decided with the companies on a step to freeze the price increase during the war.
Last May, the Minister of Economy attacked the central beverage company, after it announced the increase in the prices of its products.
Barkat then sent the company's CEO, Nir Levinger, a notice of its intention to put some of its products under supervision and a demand to receive data that would reveal "why Coca-Cola prices in Israel are among the highest in the world."

Economy Minister Nir Barkat said: "I agreed with the CEO of the Central Soft Drinks Company Nir Levinger that the company will cancel the price increases of its products that were planned to take place in the coming days.
I expect the rest of the big food companies to behave in the same way.
In a time of war when the Israeli public is groaning under the war and economic burden - it is expected of the big companies that have enriched themselves from the public not to enslave it.

The central company for the production of soft drinks stated: "According to the law, the company is prohibited from referring to its plans regarding the prices of its products in the media."
A source in the industry says that it does not seem that the companies will cancel the price increases.
According to him, "there are manufacturers who raised the prices due to lack of choice. In the reality that has arisen, it is impossible to produce and lose, despite the desire to support the consumer."
