Would French be double?
On the one hand, the writing of the authors and the standard level that we learn in textbooks.
On the other, spontaneous speaking as actually practiced.
A hiatus which would make certain efforts of beginners in vain.
They would work on twisted expressions that we prune with anglicisms.
They would practice for a long time hammering out all the syllables of “
I don’t know
”, so as not to hear anything of our famous “
I don’t know
”.
The detail seems less, but disconcerts learners and teachers.
