The massification of messages, with appropriate tools and software, makes it possible to observe, analyze and understand expressions.
But this analysis is complex and requires increasing vigilance to avoid increasingly common manipulation and recovery techniques.
One of them is called “astroturfing”, and its principle is simple: to give the impression that a mass phenomenon is emerging spontaneously on the Internet in order to influence public opinion.

This technique makes it possible to simulate the activity of a “crowd” on a social network.
In the case of the farmers' movement, it was used on X.
More than 4 million tweets were published in ten days (source: Visibrain) with the keyword #AgriculteursEnColere — for comparison, the mobilization on pension reform, although very important, had generated 3 million messages in a month.
This volume is certainly the reflection of real anger and an unprecedented mobilization of the profession, but it is also the reflection of real manipulation for real recovery!
