The Seefeld Clinic turned 150 years old on February 1st.

Quietly and secretly, because there was no celebration.

This will be done in the summer, coinciding with the opening of the two new operating rooms.

Seefeld

– Anniversaries are usually an occasion for a celebration, or at least an appreciation.

This was also canceled at the Seefeld Clinic's 150th birthday; the date was only a minor topic, for example on Thursday evening in the Starnberg Schlossberghalle, where District Administrator Stefan Frey and clinic managing director Dr.

Thomas Weiler reported on the clinic reform at the invitation of the Starnberg CSU.

There was nothing more, but according to hospital spokesman Petr Lehr, it should follow in the summer.

This will please many of the staff, because according to reports there has been disappointment there in the past few days that February 1, 1874, the opening of the original hospital, was not honored.

It was assumed that this is also related to the open future of the clinic.

The story is well known.

Dean Andreas Öhri and Pastor Klinger from Drößling founded a support association to build a clinic in 1864, 160 years ago.

In doing so, they laid the foundation for the creation of the special-purpose association, which was founded a short time later by 16 communities at the time.

The special purpose association still exists today.

Ten years later, the support association implemented its plans: “After collecting appropriate funds and King Ludwig II 'most graciously' granting a subsidy, the search for land and the construction of a hospital in Seefeld could begin.

On February 1, 1874, the 'Original Hospital' ceremoniously opened its doors,” says a text about the history of the clinic.

Over the decades, the clinic grew and was expanded to include a chapel, two side wings, a large park for patients and new operating rooms and patient rooms.

An extensive overall renovation took place in 2000, followed by another renovation in 2013.

Until June 30, 2018, the clinic was run by the Seefeld Hospital Association, which, in addition to the Starnberg district, includes the communities of Seefeld, Andechs, Wörthsee, Weßling, Gilching, Inning and Herrsching.

Since June 1, 2018, the Seefeld Clinic has been a subsidiary of Starnberger Kliniken GmbH, which in turn is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Starnberg district; the property continues to be managed by the special purpose association.

As a non-profit association, the Friends of Seefeld Hospital continues to support new purchases and modernization measures at the hospital with donations.

The clinic has around 72 beds, and it is actually unclear how long it will continue to exist at this location.

The past few years have been turbulent for many reasons, starting with embellished figures that the then managing director had presented to the special purpose association and which led to a hole of 4.4 million euros opening up in October 2015, money that the special purpose association members had to raise. which in turn was the reason why the clinic slipped under the wing of the clinic holding company.

Today, small houses are no longer supported by politicians, but plans for a new building in Herrsching are on hold.

Two operating theaters are currently being added to the Seefeld Clinic.

When asked on Friday, its chairman, Mayor Klaus Kögel, did not want to confirm the rumor that the Friends of Seefeld Clinic wanted to organize an event to mark the anniversary on February 1st and was thwarted.

Of course, the date is also worth celebrating.

The circle of friends will hold their charity dinner in November under the motto of the 150th birthday.

“February is a bad month for a celebration,” said Thomas Weiler on Friday.

It was therefore decided to celebrate the anniversary and the new operating theaters together in the summer.

These would be ready in February.

“We may also be able to combine this with an open day.”
