4,000 people recently gathered in Freising to show a clear stance against the right.

In Hallbergmoos on Sunday there were 300 demonstrators who took a stand for democracy.

Hallbergmoos

– The organizers are extremely satisfied.

“I'm pretty euphoric.

The response was enormous.

The mood is peaceful.

A great story, this first demonstration in the history of Hallbergmoos,” said event manager Robert Wäger.

The Greens and the SPD had called for the rally, but the solidarity was non-partisan.

“We may differ on topics and political opinions, but we have a common democratic attitude,” said Wäger to applause from the audience.

Correctiv's research and the remigration plans of right-wing extremists - including AfD politicians - were also the driving force behind the demonstration in the 12,000-resident community in Hallbergmoos.

“Instead of allowing ourselves to be divided, we should stand up for a vibrant, democratic society – a society based on respect, tolerance and constant exchange.

Everyone join in,” said JU leader Sofie Holzmann as the first speaker to the people.

“We are a human family”: The messages at the demonstration on Sunday in Hallbergmoos were clear.

“The Wannsee Conference 2.0 simply has to shake us up,” said Robert Wäger.

“We are the firewall between our free, democratic basic order and those who want to destroy it.” He recalled the time of National Socialism.

“Evidence of a robust democracy”

Andreas Hauner (Green Youth Freising), organizer of the demo in Freising, emphasized: In larger places it is easier to mobilize people.

But even in smaller ones it is important to show a clear stance against right-wing extremism.

The discussion about a ban on the AfD is evidence of a robust democracy.

According to Hauner, the breeding ground for extremism is that many people are not doing well and are worried about the future.

“That’s why I advocate putting social concerns at the center of politics.” Good education, good security for the elderly.

“It’s not enough to leave it to politics”

"Resist the beginnings.

It’s a little late, but not too late,” emphasized Sabina Brosch, Green councilor.

“It is time that finally – after right-wing extremism has become socially acceptable again and has moved into local, state and federal parliaments – a line is drawn.” According to Brosch, this also means: “Be brave and give counter-speech – at the regulars’ table, on the street , online, at work or in the neighborhood.

Leaving it to politics is not enough.”

Despite all the differences in political attitudes towards the traffic light government, according to Thomas Henning, this would never justify “supporting right-wing radicals”.

And he looked back: “It started the same way 100 years ago, these skirmishes against people who thought differently, non-Germans.

How can something like this happen again in Germany?

Do we really want to let democracy be taken away from us?”

The former mayor of the municipality of Hallbergmoos, Klaus Stallmeister, stepped to the microphone.

“The AfD would deport us all here because we like to help people integrate,” said Ingrid Kamann from the Asylum Helpers Group.

People who live here, work here and become friends.

Who, like Nasir Nazari in Afghanistan, in turn help with integration.

Mayor Josef Niedermair (CSU), initially announced as the keynote speaker, was there privately, but did not speak on the advice of the legal department in the town hall.

The former mayor at the microphone

Former mayor Klaus Stallmeister took the microphone ten years after his last public appearance.

Because the AfD is a party “that has no place in our party spectrum”.

He called for a rethink: “We talked a lot today about the AfD and what we dislike about them.

But we should also talk about the overall political situation and the parties that have forgotten how to look for solutions together in a critical situation,” said Stallmeister.

That is the real reason for the AfD's rise in strength.

Instead of “beating” each other in the Bundestag, they are called upon to shape the future.”
