Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl say goodbye to their roles as “Tatort” detectives Batic and Leitmayr.
What does her end look like?
Munich – On Sunday evening (February 4, 2024), fans can look forward to a new episode of “Tatort”.
The edition from Munich is a special one - because just a few weeks ago the actors Miroslav Nemec (69) and Udo Wachtveitl (65) announced that they would no longer be in front of the camera in their roles as Ivo Batic and Franz Leitmayr.
In an exclusive interview with
tz
and
merkur
they talked about their upcoming farewell.
But how will it work?
Do viewers have to be prepared for dramatic serial deaths?
“Farewell that suits us”: Do Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl want the “Tatort” film death?
There have been major changes to the “Tatort” series in the past few months, so Jan Josef Liefers (59) has already spoken about a possible end in Münster.
The Munich investigators Batic and Leitmayr, who are played by Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl, have already made their end final.
Only a few more episodes with the two actors will be shown on ARD.
The exact date for the last edition is not yet known - but there are already plans for the farewell.

“There are ideas, but they are not revealed yet,” says Miroslav Nemec mysteriously in an interview with
tz
and

.
But his colleague at least reveals that the two of them want a farewell that suits them.
And what does that mean?
“A dramatic death?
Pfffhh... We always tried to characterize Batic and Leitmayr as characters who like to live," clarifies Wachtveitl.
In an interview with
bild.de
he explains this further.
“Over the years we have always been careful not to sink into the soup of misery.
In this respect, it wouldn't suit us that one gets stabbed and the other throws himself off the roof out of grief." According to Miroslav Nemec, they want to remain true to their attitude - until the very end.
Whether the investigative team will ultimately simply retire or have a more eventful exit remains a surprise.
The “crime scene” phenomenon
Since the first “Tatort” episode “Taxi nach Leipzig” was broadcast on November 29, 1970, the weekly crime thriller format has developed into a true TV phenomenon and brings ARD an audience of millions with each new episode.
To date, an impressive 102 investigators have appeared on the successful show - with the Munich duo Ivo Batic (Miroslav Nemec, 68) and Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl, 64) recording the most missions.
Of the 22 constantly changing locations and teams - including Ludwigshafen, Vienna, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Zurich and Bremen - Frank Thiel (Axel Prahl, 62) and Prof. Dr.
Dr.
Karl-Friedrich Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers, 58) from Münster was the most popular, as a survey by
t-online
from 2022 showed.

This is what Batic and Leitmayr want to stay after the “Tatort” farewell
Even if no more details about the farewell are to come to light for the time being, the TV stars are already thinking beyond the end of “Tatort”.
“I would be happy if we were a real asset to the 'Tatort'.
And I think it would be nice if viewers remembered that we didn't fall prey to this gloom-kitsch, where everything has to be sad and everyone is in such a chic bad mood.
Nope!
We, Ivo, Franz, Miro and I, we think: Life is good!” says Udo Wachtveitl to

One thing is definitely clear: the announcement of the farewell caused a lot of discontent among the fans.
The viewers were disappointed by the “Tatort” exit.
