Fun Unlimited have created something good with a lot of atmosphere.

The meeting of over 20 children's carnival groups in the town hall was a success.

The proceeds go to the hospice in Germering.

We are considering repeating the event in the future.

Germering

– Nothing could slow down the Germeringer Fun Unlimited (FU) and the visiting Gardens on Saturday.

Not the technology that recorded the music for the respective performances and occasionally had problems.

And also not the traffic-related lateness of the Narrhalla Oberschleißheim.

The delay was simply covered up: a few young dancers from Fun Unlimited bridged the forced break with a spontaneous performance.

“The girls wanted to do it and they did it well,” praised Stephan Patsch, FU board member.

Advertising for carnival

A compliment that President Peter Steinberger of the Upper Bavaria regional association in the Association of German Carnival (BDK) gave for the entire event.

“At Fun Unlimited you know that something like this works.” The BDK took over the pure organization of the groups.

All 80 kindergartens in the catchment area were contacted and the performance dates were coordinated after the confirmations, says Steinberger.

No small feat, as the appointments had to be spread over a good nine hours.

Overall, such an event is good advertising.

“We show that carnival is a tradition and yet remains young,” said Steinberger.

The children and young people at the guard meeting were thrilled to be able to present their skills to many visitors.

There was a constant coming and going in the audience.

But many children and their companions stayed to at least cheer on the next group and the group after that.

The Orlando Hall in the Stadthalle was always well filled.

Peter Spendler from the city's participation advisory board was pleased with this.

The committee had joined the event to increase its visibility.

The advisory board members mainly took part with cake.

People took turns at their own stand throughout the day.

“People kept coming to find out more,” said Spendler.

Above all, he was enthusiastic about the Garden's presentation.

“It’s great to see what the young people are doing.

That creates a good atmosphere.” Spendler also praised the organization of FU: “A very good job.”

There will also be such a guard meeting for children and youth groups for the BDK Upper Bavaria in 2025.

However, not in Germering, because the association assigns this event, which takes place under its direction, to a different location in the region every year.

“Of course it is up to the clubs to set something up themselves.”

Will there be a repeat in 2026?

At Fun Unlimited they are not averse to this.

“This event should have its tradition,” emphasizes Patsch.

But the town hall must be booked for the long term.

The club also needs the hall for a whole weekend in order to hold its children's carnival on one of the two days.

“This is the only way to pay off the effort involved in the entire structure and technology,” said Patsch.

However, the board will discuss intensively about a repeat in 2026.

Vice Mayor Manuela Kreuzmair gave a hint that people in the city could definitely get used to it.

“Such a children’s carnival guard meeting is something great for Germering.”
