The Secretary of Tourism, Sports and Environment,
Daniel Scioli
, stated this Sunday that he agreed to join Javier Milei's cabinet to "collaborate" in an area whose objective is to "generate work and genuine foreign exchange" and, given the criticism received from leaders of Peronism, stressed that he was "always" willing to help in difficult times" in the country.
"I take this stage with great commitment. I have faith that the country will move forward.
I want to collaborate and help with my experience
. I heard that it caught the attention of some. They have always seen from me that I am willing to help, particularly, in difficult moments," he said.
In statements to Radio Miter, Scioli indicated that the criticism he received in recent days after accepting the proposal to join the Government under the orbit of the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, was due to his willingness to "work" and the decision to leave. the "tranquility" that could mean remaining in the position of Argentine ambassador in Brazil, a position he left to take over as head of the Ministry of Tourism.
"
Is it wrong to want to help and collaborate?
I said
'This is the time'
and Minister Francos and President Milei agreed on that," he said.
Scioli, who was vice president of Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) and governor of Buenos Aires for the Front for Victory (2007-2015), commented that
"for eight years" he has maintained a "link" with President Milei
.
"I have
affection, respect and recognition
for how he interpreted society's desire for change and now has that mission of meeting expectations," he evaluated.
In that sense, he considered that Milei promoted the Omnibus Law "in Congress to face "multiple difficulties that the country is going through", and highlighted that in the face of the parliamentary debate that took place in recent weeks in the Chamber of Deputies, the President "was "opened and listened to" the suggestions and changes proposed by the opposition "without losing the objective and direction towards the future."
"What we are seeing is an opposition that presents itself from different points of view and an ruling party that pays attention to it. I have faith that the country will move forward if we have a collective conscience of where we come from, where we are and where we are going," he analyzed. .
Scioli asked society to "keep in mind" that "things cannot be solved overnight" and stated that "inflation will go down" through policies that guarantee "fiscal balance."
The brand new official, who last year had run as a pre-candidate for president of the Peronist coalition Unión por la Patria (UxP) to compete in the 2023 primaries, an aspiration from which he finally gave up, assured that at 67 years old he has no "no more electoral political aspirations."
And he added: "
My time in electoral politics ended
when the conditions were not met to compete in those PASO; the President knows this very well. What I want is to collaborate, help, contribute my experience. If I am criticized for that, well "I can rest assured that I am doing what I feel," he concluded.
