Fürstenfeldbruck – Representatives of the Free Voters from Fürstenfeldbruck, Emmering and Maisach found out first-hand information from the “maker” of the BioDrom, Karl-Heinz Jansen.

The project is to be built on the site of the former air base with its central facility, the cyclotron, and will start in the first phase on the area currently used by BMW.

Jansen started the project with his network on the private sector side, and a development company has already been founded.

He has decades of experience in the field of analytical technology and pharmaceutical technology.

There is a certain time pressure

The representatives of the Free Voters were particularly interested in his assessment of how the process had progressed so far and how the project was progressing.

Jansen described the urgency of sticking to the schedule.

“The development plan must be in place as a statute by mid-2025; there is a certain amount of time pressure,” says Jansen.

Otherwise, there will be increasing pressure on the consortium of entrepreneurs involved to realize the project elsewhere.

“Other cities and municipalities would really like the project, they are rolling out the red carpet for us elsewhere.” The centerpiece of the BioDrom will be the cyclotron.

This enables the production of the isotope AC-225.

This is expected to be the crucial nuclide in cancer therapy over the next few decades.

500 to 700 jobs

“This would create the basis for solutions for diseases that were previously considered incurable,” said Jansen.

Research, development and production facilities in the field of radiochemistry would also be set up, and the work would take place in conjunction with the TU Rechts der Isar Clinic and the LMU Großhadern Clinic.

“In the first expansion stage, 500 to 700 high-quality jobs are expected to be created here on the air base area.” The representatives of the local parliaments were impressed by these numbers and opportunities.

“We agree across communities that this project is of outstanding regional and, in our opinion, even national importance and that we must do everything possible to realize it at the site of the former air base in Fürstenfeldbruck,” says Markus Droth, summarizing the meeting.

Upgrading the district

“We have to address the problems and questions associated with such a project, such as the traffic issue, in parallel.

This has to happen now so that we can counteract the population's fears and take them on a journey to see what the added value of such a facility is and how they benefit from the general upgrading of the district on all levels.
