“Mamie”, as the homeless people of Champigny-sur-Marne call her, hands Jacques a meal and greets him as if she were meeting a neighbor.
A stone's throw from the Boullereaux supermarket, members of the Solidarité Champigny association come every day to offer a coffee or a hot meal to Jacques and Pascal, who have been living on the street in this neighborhood for years.

With the cold of this winter, concern has gripped all the volunteers.
“We had to take Jacques to the hospital with frostbite which even prevented him from walking, while another homeless person was found dead,” says Géraldine Aati, who manages the association.
How do you expect them to get warm when the places open in a gymnasium are in Créteil or Nogent?
