The planning for the new town hall in Aschheim continues to be slow.

A Green local councilor is now requesting an immediate stop.

Aschheim - The Aschheim local council's path to the new town hall is rocky.

The plan has now been presented to the committee for the third time and there is still a lot of need for discussion.

Sabine Maier (Greens) even wanted to pull the emergency brake.

But her request to immediately stop all planning and even collaboration with the architectural firm was not approved.

The planners from Kauffmann Theil und Partner came with a large contingent to present the planning.

They brought along a design that, with various changes, cost almost 17.5 million euros.

The most important change was the proposal to replace the roof on the part of the town hall that was still standing.

Architect Thomas Theil explained that the renovation only cost 125,000 euros more and that the existing roofing did not have an infinite lifespan.

Radical proposal

After the architect's presentation, the local councilors had many detailed questions, and they kept looking for opportunities for savings between the lines.

Sabine Maier (Greens) even had a whole list of questions about where you could save money.

Among other things, she discussed the option of reducing the size of the underground car park under the town hall.

When the questions and answers didn't produce any great results, she made the radical motion: "I'm in favor of breaking it off here." She called for the collaboration with the architectural firm that had won the architectural competition to be stopped.

However, the administration informed the local councilor that the application was not admissible.

On behalf of the Greens, Walter Wiedenhofer later asked how the process could be stopped before the next performance phase.

He indicated that the issue would come up again in budget talks soon.

“There are no luxury things in the planning.”

Project manager Michael Prinster made it clear: “There are no luxury things in the planning.” He demanded that the local council make a fundamental commitment to the planning.

He criticized the fact that the local council had still not finally accepted the design of the two offset bars.

“At the beginning there was some grinding in the gears,” said Deputy Mayor Robert Ertl, who presided over the meeting, “but recently we have been productive.”

Fritz Trautmannsberger (“I don’t know if I can go with that”) asked again about a facade facing Ismaninger Strasse that would be closer to the old town hall building, which has already been demolished.

Ultimately, the procedure was decided on in order to be able to build on the appearance of the old town hall.

Architect Theil defended the design with two staggered structures that still contain the once striking dormers: “I think that we hit the tone between old and new quite well.”

In the two votes there was a majority of 14:4 in favor of further development of the planning, which addresses more detailed questions in performance phase 3.

The new roof was also approved with a vote of 14:4.

Wiedenhofer had not decided on an option for the roof, but was counted among the yes votes when he did not report it.
