Financial income in the amount of more than one hundred thousand shekels was expected to enter the coffers of the Elad municipality following the collection of entrance fees from the dippers in the mikvahs in the city.

However, the money disappeared from the accounting records and did not enter the municipality's coffers - this is what was revealed in the municipality's auditor's report obtained by Walla.

The report for the year 2022 submitted to the municipality and the city council on behalf of Raviv Shimon, the auditor of Elad Municipality, in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance Law.

And it brings up extremely worrying data.

The audit indicated a significant income gap regarding the collection of funds in mikvahs between the year 2019, in which the financial income from collecting entrance to bathing in mikvahs was about 190 thousand shekels, and the years 2020-2021 when the income amounted to only tens of thousands of individual shekels.

The auditor stated in the report that the meaning of the gap may mean that those large sums of money received from entering the mikvahs were not transferred at all to the accounting department, and to the municipal coffers.

The money disappeared from the accounting records and did not enter the municipal coffers.

The report also shows that the results of the water tests of the water wells carried out in the water quality testing laboratory indicated a chlorine concentration exceeding the regulations in 83% of the water wells tested, and the presence of cloudy water in 30% of the cases at a high concentration.

Turbid water with such a high concentration may cause sanitary damage and even endanger the lives of the divers.

Some of the residents of the city who were diagnosed as suffering from infections testified that they felt a burning sensation in their bodies while immersing in the mikveh.

Those residents believe that their medical problems were caused by the mikva water they bathed in.

These findings reached the municipality every month in 2020-2021, and despite this, it did not improve the activity of disinfecting the mikvahs or the frequency of changing the water in them.

On behalf of the Municipality of Elad, it was stated in response:

"Most of the malfunctions have already been repaired, work is currently being carried out on some of the mentioned mikvahs to correct the defects. The disinfection activity is carried out and supervised according to the regulations of the Ministry of Religious Services and the Ministry of Health, and the level of cleanliness in the mikvahs complies with the strict guidelines. This is a broad renovation process And upgrading all the urban mikvaas with a very large budget."
