Wolfratshausen/Berg – Within a few minutes there were two accidents on the A95 on Friday afternoon – according to the Weilheim traffic police station, the cause was the same driver in both cases.
First fell asleep on the highway, then reversed: senior caused two accidents
The 89-year-old Gräfelfinger was driving his VW Golf on the A95 towards Munich around 2 p.m.
According to his own statements, he fell asleep briefly between the Wolfratshausen and Schäftlarn junctions, which caused him to crash into a Skoda in front of a 57-year-old Geretsrieder in the municipality of Berg (Starnberg district).
Due to the force of the impact, the Skoda was thrown from the right lane to the left across the road and finally collided with the center guardrail.
According to the police, the 89-year-old was “roused from his sleep by the impact and then stopped briefly on the shoulder of the A95.”
Shortly afterwards, the senior decided to put the car in reverse and back up.

According to his own statements, he wanted to make sure that no one was injured in the collision.
But while he was reversing, the next accident occurred, "because the 89-year-old overlooked the car of a first responder and drove his Golf into this car," according to the police.
According to an initial estimate, the total material damage amounts to around 22,000 euros.
“It was only by chance and a lot of luck that none of those involved were injured in the two accidents.” Gräfelfinger faces two criminal charges for endangering road traffic and a fine of several hundred euros.
In addition, after consultation with the public prosecutor's office, the senior's driver's license was confiscated.
