Still in use: The Allershausen fire department's tank fire engine is to be replaced by a more powerful one.

That's what the local council decided.

The Allershausen local councilors were not entirely in agreement as to whether the purchase of two fire engines was necessary.

After a debate there was a compromise.

Allershausen

- Equipping the volunteer fire departments is one of the municipalities' mandatory tasks, Mayor Martin Vaas made it clear at the local council meeting.

He was responding to a debate about the purchase of two fire engines.

On the one hand, it was a new portable pump vehicle for the Tünzenhausen fire department, and on the other hand, it was a replacement for a tank fire engine from the Allershausen fire department.

Cost: 250,000 euros or 550,000 euros.

In the case of Tünzhausen, joint procurement with the municipalities of Wang and Au is being considered because it is hoped that this will result in better conditions.

Vaas estimated the expected subsidies for the two vehicles at 53,000 euros and 157,000 euros.

After consulting with the Allershausen fire department, Vaas recommended opting for the more powerful vehicle with 4,000 instead of 3,000 liters of water because this would mean the fire department would be better equipped in the event of a fire.

In addition, there is relatively less subsidy for the smaller fire engine.

“It’s all in the fire department needs plan,” said Vaas, explaining the reasons for the purchases and the associated details.

Doubt raised: “Really in such bad condition?”

Regardless, opinions about the purchases varied.

Leonhard Held (CSU) expressed doubts about the needs plan of the fire departments in the district.

He wanted to know whether the old vehicles were “really in such bad condition” that they had to be replaced after 25 years.

The question arises as to whether they will last another ten years.

Josef Lerchl (SPD) saw it similarly.

He explained that he would not agree to this.

Friedrich Moser (PFW), fire brigade commander in Allershausen, did not want to directly deny a longer service life.

However, he pointed out: "It's not about whether they are rusty or not." Rather, the need stems from the fact that new building areas and an industrial area have been added, and the old vehicle is far from being designed for the amount of water required .

“If it’s too expensive, then don’t!”

Peter Colombo (PFW) basically spoke out in favor of the purchases.

“I do think that we should stick to the guidelines,” he explained, but called for a basis for planning so that we know what to expect from the community in the future.

Bianca Kellner-Zotz (CSU) also did not want to oppose the purchases.

It doesn't make sense to wait until everything comes along all at once in four years, she pointed out.

Vaas explained that it was about specializing the local fire departments “little by little” and coordinating the equipment of the vehicles so that coordinated action could take place in an emergency.

And so he called for a fundamental decision to be made so that offers could be obtained and, if necessary, the purchases could be ordered.

“If it’s too expensive, then don’t do it!” he said.

With this in mind, the local council voted unanimously in favor of purchasing a portable pump vehicle for Tünzhausen.
