It was time.
Under the aegis of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), SNCF and RATP, which co-operate the RER B, have officially announced the launch of several measures aimed at making this “sick” line of the Ile-de-France network more reliable.
Ambition?
“Earn one punctuality point per year until 2035”, while this peaks at 85%.
These actions come from the famous report by Yves Ramette, “mass transit” expert and former general director of RATP and SNCF Réseau Île-de-France.
Its in-depth audit proposes 14 actions to be implemented to streamline traffic and simplify the governance of this axis.

Among the concrete new features, the line now has six additional trains capable of running.
That is 154 trains, instead of 148. Enough to provide margin and flexibility in the availability of equipment.
All trains will be equipped with GPS chips to better manage the fleet in operation.
The maintenance workshops, in Massy (Essonne) and Mitry (Seine-et-Marne), are reorganized on weekends in order to better anticipate the high needs on Monday morning.
The two centers, RATP and SNCF, are in the process of unifying their breakdown monitoring and intervention tools.
