The suspect was caught.

The 18-year-old alleged perpetrator, who is said to have killed a classmate in St. Leon-Rot, has so far remained silent about the allegations.
So far, the suspect has not commented on the fatal knife attack on the 18-year-old victim, said a spokesman for the Heidelberg public prosecutor's office on Monday (January 29).
The girl was killed last Thursday (January 25) in a high school in the Baden-Württemberg city.
The student, who according to previous findings had been in a relationship with the victim for a short time in 2023, fled by car after the crime he was accused of.
A little later he was arrested in Lower Saxony.
He is now in custody.

The police are currently investigating the background to the fatal school attack in St. Leon-Rot.
The school coordinated with the police after the student reported the matter, communications expert Dirk Metz said on Friday at the community's town hall.
After careful consideration, agreements were made so that the two people would not meet again if possible, Metz said.
“That was the main goal.”
Ultimately, everyone involved had the impression that things had calmed down.
But: “There is no such thing as 100 percent security,” said Metz.
The student's complaint has not yet been submitted to the public prosecutor's office, only the police have investigated the case, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office.

School principal Dirk Lutschewitz said on Friday that the incident had shocked everyone.
“Nothing has been the same since yesterday.” Normality in the school community is currently out of the question.
At some point we will try to find our way back to normality - but now we need time to grieve and process.

The 18-year-old alleged perpetrator is in custody.
The public prosecutor's office and police said that the suspect initially fled the crime scene in a vehicle on Thursday towards northern Germany.
After locating the vehicle, the officers managed to pursue it.
The accused fled from the police “at times at very high speed” and ultimately caused an accident with an uninvolved vehicle.
Both the 18-year-old and the driver of the other vehicle were injured.
Both were initially taken to nearby hospitals.

In a press release, the public prosecutor's office provides further details about the alleged perpetrator and the history of the crime.
Among other things, the nationality of the 18-year-old and the dead student: Both are German citizens.
It is now also known that the police only spoke to the suspect in December.

Update from January 26th, 2:19 p.m.:
A video has now emerged that is supposed to show police officers arresting the alleged perpetrator.
In Seesen he caused a serious accident in a supermarket parking lot.
In a short clip you can see four police officers pulling the 18-year-old out of the Ford Fiesta.
The fleeing student is said to have previously crashed into a BMW and thrown his car into a tree.
He and the driver of the BMW were injured.

“You could have known beforehand that something like this would happen at some point,” said a student after the bloody act at the high school in St. Leon-Rot.
He's obviously not entirely wrong.
As the public prosecutor's office and the police announced on Thursday evening, the student who was killed had already filed a criminal complaint against her ex-boyfriend in November 2023.
Two months later he stabbed her at school.
He then fled in his black Ford Fiesta to Seesen in Lower Saxony, also racing through Northeim.
After the bloody act at school, the 18-year-old suspect fled almost 380 kilometers from St. Leon-Rot to Seesen in Lower Saxony.

The day after the tragic incident in St. Leon-Rot, Germany is shocked by the incident at the school there.
A student killed an 18-year-old.
On Thursday, a classmate spoke out and announced that the victim was the perpetrator's ex-girlfriend.
This corresponds to the police press release, which assumes that the crime was committed in a relationship.
According to the student, both of them would have graduated from high school this year.
The following news made the rounds at the private high school: The perpetrator is said to have apologized during class on the grounds that he was feeling sick.
He then looked for his ex-girlfriend and stabbed her in the neck, as

According to a police spokesman, the accident involving the alleged suspect occurred in Seesen, Lower Saxony.

At the Leimen private high school, 685 students are taught by 85 teachers.
Schoolchildren in Hamburg triggered a major police operation last year when they threatened a teacher with a weapon.
It is not yet clear what exactly is behind the current operation in Baden-Württemberg.
