Many people didn't want to miss this spectacle: around 1,500 people flocked to Sonnenbichl in Bad Wiessee on Friday evening (February 2nd) to witness the balloon glow.
Bad Wiessee
- “It was a gigantic picture,” enthuses Peter Rie from Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).
And many onlookers didn't want to miss this sight: around 1,500 people flocked to Sonnenbichl in Bad Wiessee on Friday evening to witness the spectacular balloon glow as part of the 23rd Tegernsee Valley Montgolfiade.
The weather also cooperated and seven large hot air balloons and four model balloons were illuminated.
In addition, the burners were ignited on four baskets without a cover.
The smaller model balloons were also made to light up.

Space capacity at Sonnenbichl was almost exhausted
The visitors who had to walk to see the balloon glow were thrilled.
However, the capacity at Sonnenbichl was already pretty much exhausted with this number of visitors.
“The space up there can’t take much more,” admits Rie.
New precautions will have to be taken next time.
A small downer: It was no longer possible to launch the balloons on the weekend (February 3rd/4th) as part of the Montgolfiade.
The wind gusts were too strong.
