In continuation of the reserve plan of the minister and the minister of defense, this evening (Sunday) an agreement was signed between the employers' organization and the general union in which the social conditions for reserve servants and their spouses will be anchored alongside a precedent-setting step of compensation from the state to employers in the amount of 20% of the salary of the reserve worker.

As part of the agreement, signed between Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David and Business Sector Presidency Chairman Dovi Amitai, it was decided to grant up to eight days of paid leave to the spouses of reservists with children up to the age of 14, as well as to extend the period of protection against dismissal for those who served in the reserves More than 60 days - for two months (instead of one month as per the law).

Changing the priorities

It was also agreed that workers, who were not allowed to use their full vacation days in 2023 due to circumstances related to the war, will be able to carry over the unused vacation days they have accrued to 2024. Also, an expansion order will be signed that will apply the social conditions to all employers and employees in the economy.

The Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich said that his office continues to work for those who protect the state and its citizens.

"We are changing the priorities. I promised that our heroes would not have to worry for a moment - and we continue to fulfill it. The agreement signed today is important for the Israeli economy, for our male and female reserve servicemen, our heroes and heroines and their families, and for Israeli society as a whole."

The Minister of Labor, Yoav Ben Tzur, said that the agreement was drawn up based on agreement and understanding with the Ministry of Finance, the Histadrut and the employers' organizations.

"Tonight we finalized the collective agreement to extend the protection period for the reserve officers from 30 days to 60 days.

As the Minister of Labor I promise - I will never allow the rights of reservists to be violated and illegal dismissals from their workplaces, I will stand to their right as a wall in a way to protect their rights so that they can provide for their families with dignity."

The chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar-David, also spoke about the need to reward and help the reserve servants. "It has been said for 120 days that our good sons and daughters protect us and allow us to continue living in the home country, and this agreement is an expression of our responsibility to help."

Bar-David added that "following the project we launched last week under the title 'Recruited for your sake', which invites the servants to receive various assistance services from the Histadrut even if they are not members of the organization, we decided to expand the protection umbrella against layoffs and increase the help for spouses who are faced with managing a farm home while their loved ones were called to the flag."

"We will continue to take care of the well-being and rights of the reservists and their households who need assistance. It is our duty as a company to help and reward them for their contribution to the country and the people."

"As the business leadership of Israel, we took upon ourselves in the presidency of the business sector the decision to protect the reserve servants and their daughters and spouses.

Along with this agreement and for the first time in the place of the state, the employers in the State of Israel will be washed for the payment of social contributions to their employees serving in the reserves."

Amitayi said that "this is a historic move designed to remove a significant financial burden, which was unjustly imposed on employers. I would like to thank the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Labor for their cooperation in regards to ensuring the resilience of the reservists and their families."
