A lot has been achieved and even more is planned, that's what it says at the beginning of the election program of Saxony's Greens.

The party is self-confident, but is weakening in the polls.

At the state party conference, she gets support from a prominent member.

Neukieritzsch - Saxony's Greens are heading into the state election campaign with confidence.

The clear message is: “We are ready to continue to assume responsibility for Saxony,” said state chairwoman Marie Müser on Saturday at the state party conference in Neukieritzsch near Leipzig after adopting the election program.

“There is no way around us in the Free State for a stable democratic government majority.” At the start, Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) promised support for this - but first paid respect to the commitment to a strong democracy.

A coalition of the CDU, SPD and the Greens governs Saxony.

Across all democratic parties, people are demonstrating for the free basic order, she said.

“The vast majority of our country will defend this basic order, this constitution.” The most important thing is that Democrats stand together.

Baerbock clearly rejected populism.

Populism is fueled precisely by the fact that rifts in society are deepening.

“What populists also fear is compromise on the matter.” Compromise is the essence of democracy, and for this you have to be able to listen and be prepared to take the other person’s point of view.

The election program is a political offer and is characterized by confidence, togetherness and values, “which we continue to advance in this society with heart and passion,” said the parliamentary group leader in the state parliament, Franziska Schubert.

In the preamble, the party asserts that it has achieved a lot, but still wants more.

A climate protection law is also mentioned as a goal, which should define measures by 2045.

The Greens are in favor of a massive expansion of renewable energies; public buildings and squares in the Free State should primarily be used for solar modules.

In addition, a coal phase-out is required well before 2038.

The goals in education policy include lowering the hurdles for setting up community schools, abolishing fees for long-term students and making academic career paths easier to plan through good contracts.

“We are committed to a society based on solidarity in which all people have equal opportunities,” it continues.

Saxony should also be a safe haven for asylum seekers.

The agenda also includes reducing bureaucracy in the craft sector, a mobility guarantee for rural areas and a reform of the debt brake.

The state list of Alliance 90/The Greens is to be drawn up at a party conference in Chemnitz in mid-March.

In the 2019 state elections, the party received 8.6 percent of the vote in Saxony.

In current surveys it is currently at 7.0 percent.

According to their own information, the Greens currently have 3,600 members in the Free State.
