A young Jew spat on a Christian cleric in Jerusalem/Walla!
The Latin Patriarchate today (Sunday) condemned the attack on the priest by two suspects residents of Jerusalem.
"The Latin Patriarchate condemns the provocative and shameful attack against Abbot Nicodemus Schnabel, Abbot of the Dormition Monastery in Jerusalem," she said.
She also stated that she was informed by the police that the suspects were arrested immediately after the incident.
"The prosecution of a perpetrator of such hate crimes is an important deterrent that increases the sense of security of the Christian clergy in the Holy Land, especially in Jerusalem," it said.
They spat and cursed the priest.

The two suspects in the attack are residents of Jerusalem, who allegedly spat and blasphemed the priest near the Jaffa Gate in the Old City.
After the police located them, they were arrested, and then released to house arrest.
In recent months there have been a series of serious incidents in which Christian clergymen were attacked in the Old City area of Jerusalem by Jewish youths.
"This is a clear attack. The minimum that is expected is that the attacker will be brought to justice, and that a loud and clear condemnation be heard from the political and religious leaders of Israel," said Lavalle, a senior member of the Catholic Church.
