The alarm system is causing trouble at Postbank and Deutsche Bank.
A breakdown meant that the banks had to remain closed.
Frankfurt - A breakdown in the alarm system excluded customers from hundreds of Deutsche Bank and Postbank branches this morning.
All branches of the two banks were affected.
According to information from dpa,
the reason for the problem was
a malfunction in the alarm system, which is managed by an external service provider.
The problem occurred on Monday morning (February 5th).
Although the branches were open to customers, no one could get in at first.
Around 550 Postbank branches and around 400 Deutsche Bank branches were affected.
Alarm system breakdown: Deutsche Bank and Postbank affected
According to a report in the business magazine “Capital”, bank staff had called customers a lot to cancel appointments.
“Due to the technical malfunction, the alarm system was actually not operational nationwide,” a Postbank spokesman told the magazine.
“That’s why we had to keep the branches closed until the problem was solved.” The system was functional again around 11 a.m.
The bank did not provide any further information about the background.

Last summer it became known that several German banks were attacked by hackers.
Postbank was particularly affected, but records were also stolen from Deutsche Bank.
