Amir Golding, a retiree of Battalion 8105, approached the Rubinstein Estate and offered to host the battalion's auxiliary company for the night - this after the soldiers' long service in Gaza and going on a week's break, just before they return to man another section.

The goal was to connect the reservists with the tenants in the sheltered housing for a 24-hour experience.

The estate of course responded positively, which created an exciting intergenerational event.

Eli Lederman (85), the tenant of the estate, says: "I don't remember such gestures that were in my time, I fought in all the wars and I am happy to discover that this time the soldiers are full of respect for our generation and the rear is full of respect for them," he said excitedly, "We too have gone through difficult wars in the short history of the nation This one. But to see these guys with all their determination, especially when we wondered for many years how they would deal with the hardships of war - we are happy to discover that we have a strong and steadfast generation that respects and knows what it is fighting for."

Riva Sagi, another tenant who lives in the mansion adds: "It sounds cliché, but it's simply true... We came to make them happy but their presence fills us with great happiness."

The soldiers were received with many applauses on the spot.

They played together with the tenants ping pong, snooker, enjoyed the spa facilities and the pool, sat with them for coffee and notes, ate from the many pastries prepared for them by the tenants ahead of time.

In order to lighten the atmosphere a bit, the management and tenants arranged for them a DJ and beers courtesy of the local Alexander Brewery, and the participants enjoyed a party that lasted until the wee hours of the night, along with several tenants who joined in the dancing.
