Iranian militias strike in Syria.

In response to recent US attacks, a US base is attacked.

There are casualties among US allies.

Deir ez-Zor - After an attack by pro-Iranian militias on a US base in Jordan killed three US soldiers, the US carried out major retaliatory strikes in Syria and Iraq.

Now came the backlash from the so-called “Islamic Resistance” in Iraq.

According to activists, seven fighters from the US-allied Kurdish militia “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) were killed and 18 others injured in an attack by pro-Iranian militias on a US military base in Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported this on Monday (February 5).

Attack on US allies: Iranian militias kill seven SDF members

The attack targeted the US base known as “Green Village”, where US troops are stationed at the Omar oil field in the eastern Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor.

In a statement, the SDF initially spoke of six fighters killed.

It was said that the attack took place on a “commando training center”.

The drone strike early Monday morning was the first military response by the pro-Iranian militias after recent US attacks on dozens of targets in Syria and Iraq.

The militias have attacked US troops in both countries more than 160 times since the war in Israel and Gaza began on October 7.

In Syria alone, the observatory has counted more than 100 such attacks since mid-October.

Pro-Iranian “Islamic Resistance” claims responsibility for attack on Syria

In an initial statement, the SDF blamed “mercenaries” allied with Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian regime for the attack.

However, it was later said that after an investigation it was determined that the attack came from pro-Iranian militias.

Assad and Iran are allies in the civil war in Syria.

In Deir ez-Zor, near the Iraqi border, Shiite militias west of the Euphrates face off against the SDF east of the Euphrates.

There are always fights.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq released a video purporting to show drones firing at the US base in Syria and claimed responsibility for the attack.

No information was given about the location of the video recording.

US bases in Deir ez-Zor are repeatedly attacked, but the attacks often result in no casualties and only cause material damage.

Kurdish militia SDF: Important US ally and long-time enemy of Türkiye

The SDF, led by Kurdish militias, is a close ally of the USA in the fight against the IS terrorist militia in Syria.

They captured important cities in the entire area east of the Euphrates, also thanks to US air support.

Large parts of Syria are under SDF control, including areas on the Turkish border.

Turkey, in turn, is taking military action against the SDF and sees it as the Syrian branch of the banned PKK.

So far, Turkey has carried out three major offensives in Syria since 2016, taking control of cities both west and east of the Euphrates.

Recently, head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan signaled a possible new offensive and stated that a “terroristan” would not be allowed on the Turkish border.
