At a panel discussion on February 8th in Kirchheim there will be a candidate duel before the mayoral election.

Kirchheim

- As part of a panel discussion in the youth center on Thursday, February 8th, from 6 p.m., the people of Kirchheim will have the opportunity to get to the bottom of the two mayoral candidates Stephan Keck (SPD) and Christian Zenner.

The two are applying to succeed Maximilian Böltl (CSU), who was elected as a member of the state parliament.

After the election to the state parliament, Max Böltl (CSU) recommends his deputy Keck (SPD) as his successor

To the surprise of many, including in the CSU, Böltl proposed Second Mayor Stephan Keck (59) from the SPD as his successor (we reported).

“It surprised me a bit, but we have worked together excellently for many years, and as Second Mayor I am of course fully involved in the issue,” says Keck.

Construction and project manager at the May horticultural company in Feldkirchen

He is currently a “30 percent mayor” because he still spends 70 percent of his time working as a construction and project manager at the May horticultural company in Feldkirchen.

“That's why I have time for the community, especially in the evenings and on weekends, and I can't answer all citizens' inquiries straight away.” After hundreds of conversations with citizens at the front door and at many information stands, he is very confident that he will be officially on February 25th be elected mayor.

“All citizens give me this feeling, including my own group, as well as those of my colleagues from the CSU,” says Keck.

He only heard a single negative comment from a citizen about why he “as a socialist would be supported by black people.”

Stephan Keck (SPD) is also supported by the CSU.

Stephan Keck relies on dialogue and joint decisions

Stephan Keck says that he will continue many projects in the spirit of Maximilian Böltl, but will also bring in many of his own aspects: “It's not just about always new and ever further, we also have to protect the existing ones.

And in the local council I don’t want to enforce anything by force, but rather rely on dialogue and joint decisions.”

The Greens and VFW are sending Christian Zenner into the race

The Free Voters (VFW), in turn, together with the Greens, are in favor of Christian Zenner (36) as the future mayor.

The qualified veterinarian works at the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan, has been privately involved in the alternative youth center “Rülps eV” for decades and plays for SpVgg Heimstetten 02 – not to be confused with SV Heimstetten.

“In my opinion, far too much emphasis has been placed on economic interests in recent years,” says Zenner.

“Therefore, citizens, from children to seniors, must come first again.

“Citizen participation in energy supply – geothermal energy, wind and PV systems – is my focus, as well as in political decisions.”

Christian Zenner is running for the Greens, supported by the VFW.

Zenner has been a member of the local council since 2020

Zenner has been a member of the local council since 2020 and is now also a member of the budget consolidation group, which is supposed to think about savings in the extremely strained budget.

“We have to slow down, digest the many projects, new buildings and investments, integrate the many new residents, and at the same time create new meeting places for young people and seniors.”

Discussion in the youth center

The discussion in JuZ, Hauptstrasse 30A, is aimed at all citizens of Kirchheim and Heimstetten, especially first-time voters.

The administration seems to have been more than eager to send invitations to young voters: Zenner's two children, two years old and six months old respectively, also received invitations, as did the three-year-old grandson of SPD veteran Ewald Matejka.

Questions from the audience to the candidates are expressly welcome.
