Which food processor cooks best?

Stiftung Warentest now investigated this question and presented the best kitchen appliances with a cooking function in the January 2024 issue.

A total of seven machines were tested, priced between 265 and 1,500 euros.

We show you the four best models.

How did Stiftung Warentest test?

Stiftung Warentest evaluates kitchen machines based on various criteria:

  • Function (45%)

: Review efficiency in tasks such as whipping cream, emulsifying mayonnaise, preparing dough, pureeing vegetables, chopping and grating ingredients, as well as performance in specific cooking tasks (e.g. melting chocolate, cooking goulash).

  • Handling (35%)

: Assessment of ease of use, including instructions, assembly, operation, cleaning and storage.

  • Environment and durability (15%)

: Rating based on endurance testing, energy consumption and noise levels.

  • Safety (5%)

: Verification of electrical safety and general build quality.

  • Bosch: Cookit – test winner Stiftung Warentest (grade 2.0)

It was the only one of the seven models to complete the test course with cutting, stirring, weighing and cooking without any major problems.

Compared to the competition, the Bosch machine scores particularly well when it comes to chopping, for example onions.

The Cookit also scores points with its versatile basic equipment and 150 pre-installed recipes that can be explained step by step on the device.

In addition, the base can be heated up to 200° Celsius and is therefore ideal for frying goulash or wok vegetables: After all, the valuable roasted aromas only develop at a temperature of 120°C, which not all kitchen machines in the test achieved.

Tips before buying a food processor

Before buying a food processor, check whether there is enough space for the device and accessories.

The machine should be stable, with enough work space around it and room for the steam vent.

Avoid placing them under wall cabinets, especially when steaming.

Please note about accessories: Some machines offer grating, cutting and rasping functions, although the necessary accessories may vary.

More accessories require more storage space.

Also consider what quantities you want to prepare.

The capacity of the pots usually varies from two to over six liters.
