Ebersberg District Clinic is expanding its offerings for medical students.
It is now also an academic teaching hospital in the field of surgery
District – “We are very happy to be able to help young women and men learn to implement their knowledge from the university,” says Stefan Huber, managing director of the Ebersberg District Clinic.
Medical students complete the practical year at the end of all training components at the university.
Many young doctors use it to decide which medical field they want to specialize in.
They also got to know clinics as employers, explains Stefan Huber.
“For us, the PJ is an opportunity to show young people that they have good development opportunities with us.”
“At the Ebersberg District Clinic we can show a wide range of surgery during the internship,” says Prof. Viktoria Bogner-Flatz, who, as a professor, has the necessary teaching qualifications to train students during the internship.
The so-called PJlers can now complete a set program in the Ebersberg district clinic: one month each in general and visceral surgery, orthopedics and trauma surgery as well as the central emergency room, followed by two weeks in the (surgical) intensive care unit and two weeks in the plastic surgery department and hand surgery.
“Our interdisciplinary approach, which we offer through the rotation concept, was very positively received by the Technical University of Munich,” reports Prof. Bogner-Flatz.
The surgical internship in the departments of the chief physicians Dr.
Peter Kreissl (general, viceral and vascular surgery), Dr.
Artur Klaiber (trauma surgery and orthopedics), Dr.
Timm O. Engelhardt (plastic surgery and hand surgery) and Prof. Viktoria Bogner-Flatz (clinical acute and emergency medicine) are paid – as in the other departments.
The junior medical staff carries out medical procedures under supervision, for example examining patients.
But it is not just this aspect that is important to Prof. Viktoria Bogner-Flatz: “It is very important to me to show our profession in all its facets during the internship.
The Ebersberg District Clinic has been authorized by the Technical University of Munich for many years to act as a so-called academic teaching hospital and instruct prospective doctors in the departments of urology, gynecology and obstetrics as well as internal medicine during their internship.
