Passengers are currently waiting in vain for the Flixbus at the new stop on Ladestraße Ost.

The start was actually supposed to be on January 15th.

But the green giants are still heading for the Alpine Corps Road.

The reason: approval is still missing.

Mittenwald – At some point, Wilhelm Schwarz realized: The Flixbus isn’t coming, no matter how long it waits.

Schwarz would have been one, or perhaps even the first passenger ever, whom the bus would pick up at the newly built stop on Mittenwalder Mühlenweg (Ladestrasse East).

But in vain.

The bus on this January 16th is conspicuous by its absence - even though Schwarz had regularly booked a trip from Mittenwald to the Munich bus station.

“In fact, the Mühlenweg stop was indicated there when booking,” he tells the Tagblatt.

So what had happened?

As a reminder: In October 2023, the corporate giant Flixbus announced that the controversial stop on Alpenkorpsstrasse in Mittenwald was finally moving to the center after more than five years - where there are sanitary facilities in the immediate vicinity and passengers no longer have to walk so far.

The starting signal should be given on January 15, 2024.

The market town has even built a new stop on Ladestrasse East.

The bus has not been able to reach the new stop once since January 15th

It's just that in Germany the bureaucratic mills grind slowly, as we all know.

The bus has not been able to take people opposite the train station once since January 15th - because approval from the government of Upper Bavaria is still pending.

At the end of October 2023, Flixbus submitted a corresponding application, explains government spokesman Wolfgang Rupp - but not until March 18th.

“The government of Upper Bavaria will therefore grant approval for the relocation, as requested, on March 18, 2024.” When deciding whether the stop can be relocated or not, the government will examine whether there are concerns about traffic safety and will be involved in the process also the affected district administration authorities.

Flixbus speaks of a delay in the application and approval process

The trucking company, however, speaks of a “delay in the application and approval process, which is why Flixbus is stopping on Alpenkorpsstrasse until further notice,” company spokeswoman Isabella Domke tells the Tagblatt.

Why did it happen on January 16th that the Mühlenweg stop was already shown in the bookings?

“The passenger will have booked the trip just as we were making the change in the system, which led to misinformation in this individual case.”

So, new attempt: From Monday, March 18, 2024, guests should actually be picked up at Mühlenweg.

Mittenwald's mayor Enrico Corongiu (SPD) is quite surprised why no notice was posted at the new stop due to the delay.

He only found out afterwards that the bus would not be heading to the center as planned from January 15th.

“But the important thing is that he drives from March.”
