Martin Beilhack, commander of the Waakirchner Mountain Riflemen, introduced a prominent new addition: Hubert Aiwanger has become a member of the company.

Waakirchen

- A murmur went through the fully occupied parish hall at the annual general meeting of the Waakirchen mountain rifle company when Captain Martin Beilhack introduced the eight new members: Vice Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger has also been one of the current 389 members since 2023.

As the photos shown from the club's life showed, the Minister of Economics had already come in full gear to the Oberländer Uprising commemoration on Christmas Eve.

The images on the big screen also supported the reports from the board.

Secretary Wendelin Schmid reviewed the events: from the New Year's morning pint to the shooting anniversaries in Miesbach and Elbach, the active participation in the May devotions, Corpus Christi procession, village festival, Leonhardi trips in Warngau and Bad Tölz, Remembrance Day or St. Barbara's celebration, the anniversary of the Aubing shooting society right up to Saluting at weddings and birthdays.

The highlight of 2023 was the patron day in neighboring Gmund, in which around 200 Waakirchner mountain riflemen took part.

The memorial service on Christmas Eve was once again very well received by other mountain rifle companies in the Oberland and by Bavarian politicians.

Promotions for some members

Master marksman Manfred Münzlochner complemented Schmid's review with his report on numerous shooting competitions.

The people of Waakirch took part actively and often successfully in company, district and federal shooting, with small-caliber, large-caliber, carbine or muzzle-loading weapons.

As “bad news,” the rifle master announced that the company would no longer be organizing practice shooting, although there were practice opportunities at the Senator Voigt shooting range in Miesbach.

Captain Beilhack combined his report with a big thank you to all sponsors and supporters as well as to the Marienstein-Waakirchen music band and the drummer procession.

First Ensign Sepp Zirn was promoted to lieutenant, and the loyal Leonhardi team drivers Max Gast and Anderl Esterl received gift baskets.

Beilhack, also a district captain, enthusiastically reported on the trip to Rome on the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of Pope Benedict XVI.

with two buses and a visit to the Swiss Guard.

“In 2027 they will celebrate their 500th anniversary, maybe an invitation will come,” said Beilhack.

This year the company already has the Brewers' Day in Munich, the flag consecration of the traditional costume club, the Patronage Day in Lenggries and the Alpine region meeting in Garmisch.

“Ois wos roasn ko: mitkemma!” appealed Beilhack.

Before the honors were given at the end of the meeting, words of praise were spoken.

The company owes the fact that the salute procession is in such good shape to deputy captain Alfred Finger.

He in turn thanked the salute shooters.

“Hello,” auditor Wolfgang Nagler took off his hat to treasurer Peter Schweiger, who had “correctly and completely managed all receipts” and presented income and expenses to the meeting.

As with most resolutions, the shooters unanimously supported their board with the discharge.
