The Wolfratshausen volunteer fire department completed 14,585 hours of work.

And they did so at the risk of their own health: there were people injured in the car dealership fire.

Wolfratshausen - Commander Andreas Bauer and club chairman Florian Seitner were able to present impressive figures on Saturday evening at the annual meeting in the volunteer fire department's equipment house at Hatzplatz.

District fire officer Erich Zengerle and Wolfratshausen's mayor Klaus Heilinglechner were impressed.

“Hats off to this achievement,” congratulated Zengerle.

In his speech, the district fire council particularly emphasized the importance of the Wolfratshausen training location.

Last year, 94 active members contributed 7,626 hours of voluntary work in exercises and training alone.

In addition, there are thousands more hours in a total of 338 missions, resulting in a total of 14,585 hours.

“You deserve the highest social recognition,” said town hall chief Heilinglechner, praising the firefighters in the highest tones.

The most modern equipment and the best technical devices would be of no use if they could not be operated.

Major fire with meter-high flames in the car dealership: “Sometimes you get thoughtful”

Commander Andreas Bauer previously reported on sometimes strenuous operations.

During the major fire at the Volvo car dealership Gerb on Geltinger Straße on March 8th last year, the new HLF 20 emergency fire engine was in use for more than eleven hours and therefore even had to be refueled with diesel at the scene.

Due to the meter-high flames and the extreme heat, several firefighters suffered minor injuries.

“As the leader of such a large and dangerous operation, you sometimes get thoughtful,” Bauer admitted.

Traffic accidents and chemical plants: Commander pays respect to his comrades

The emergency services were also heavily stressed during traffic and chemical accidents, snow clearing operations and the flooding on the Loisach-Isar Canal.

The commander thanked his comrades, most of whom needed to get back to work after nighttime missions with little sleep.

“Let’s see how long such a burden can be managed unpaid with volunteers.”

This makes intact club life all the more important.

“The promotion of camaraderie should be a balance to the obligations and burdens,” emphasized club chairman Florian Seitner.

According to him, cohesion was strengthened by darts tournaments, Törggelen evenings and excursions.

For example, on a trip to Franconian Switzerland, fire brigade members of all ages came together.

Young firefighters are already ready: many candidates for active duty

In contrast to many other voluntary associations, the Wolfratshauser Wehr does not have any worries about young talent.

At the annual meeting, Bauer promoted twelve young people to firefighter candidates.

Together with the adults, they enjoyed roast pork, coleslaw, dumplings and cheese spaetzle on Saturday evening before the official part of the meeting.

Were happy about honors and awards: (from left): Manfred Sebald, commander Andreas Bauer, Erich Roth, Wolfgang Wandinger, Andreas Spohn, Anian Stocker, Hans Fagner, Stefan Jung, club chairman Florian Seitner and Andreas Schröfele.

In a minute's silence, Seitner remembered the members Heinrich Mannl and Herbert Schölderle, who died in 2023.
