Energy and climate ministers from around the world will meet in Paris on 13 and 14 February for the 2024 ministerial meeting convened by the International Energy Agency (IEA) to take stock of the latest developments in energy markets, policies and transitions of the sector and to define the strategic direction of the Agency for the coming years.
The Agency recalls this, noting that it will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the IEA by the OECD, with special events, including a series of high-level dialogues and a forum on energy innovation.
The 2024 ministerial meeting will be co-chaired by ministers from Ireland and France.
CEOs of the most important energy companies and leaders of finance and civil society will also participate.
The 2024 IEA ministerial meeting "comes at a crucial time for energy markets and the transition to clean energy globally - notes the IEA - Key issues include energy security risks related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and international efforts to implement the results that emerged from the COP28 climate change conference last December in Dubai.
