Angry movement among teachers in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines).
This Monday morning, teachers from a college in Val-Fourré exercised their right of withdrawal to denounce the degraded teaching conditions and the violence taking place there.
Teachers gathered in front of the gates and classes were disrupted.
With its large, bright rooms and brand-new bay windows, this establishment of 600 students is not classic.
Opened in 2021 in the heart of this sensitive district of 20,000 inhabitants, it was originally presented as avant-garde, with revolutionary ideas in terms of pedagogy.
There is, for example, an amphitheater, a parents' room, work in groups of different classes... Partnerships have even been imagined with the Paris Opera or the national center for space studies.
“From the facade, from the flute!
thunders a teacher who walked off the job this Monday.
On a daily basis, we are no better off than others.
We display all the possible labels but in reality, we lack the means.
We should lose modern language teaching next year and a senior education advisor position.
Problems of violence between college students are common.
Colleagues are also attacked by students.
This situation is not tenable.

Violence in the corridors
Despite its uniqueness, the college is ultimately not spared from the ills that affect other establishments, between budgetary constraints and declining endowments.
And the violence of certain young people in the neighborhood extends into its corridors.
At the departmental council - which is responsible for the colleges - we deplore the blockages and obstacles which prevent them from fully maturing.
“We are obviously very attentive to the daily life of this establishment and are vigilant about the resources allocated to it.
President (LR) Pierre Bédier even received parents of students at the start of the year, indicates one of his executives.
But we regret that it was not the subject of natural support within the educational community.
There are a few brakes from some teachers.

As a symbol, the building located in the Painters sector has still not been named.
Some residents still call it the “college of the future”.
A name that some teachers no longer believe in.
