After the bloody stabbing in Füssen’s Baumgarten last Saturday afternoon, many questions still remain unanswered.
As Füssen's police chief Edmund Martin explained to the Kreisbote, the Kempten police department has taken over the case.
“The investigation is in full swing!” he said.
However, for tactical reasons, no details will be released initially.
It remains unclear whether the alleged perpetrator or perpetrators have already been caught.
However, Martin confirmed that the 21-year-old victim is out of danger after emergency surgery.
According to the Füssen police chief, the control center in Kempten received several emergency calls about a bloody altercation in Baumgarten on Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m.
This is considered a meeting place for the local drug scene.
Martin did not want to comment on whether the incident could actually be attributed to the drug environment.
In an initial report on Sunday, the press office of the presidium in Kempten assumed that the perpetrator and victim at least knew each other.
Since it had to be assumed based on the emergency calls that at least one weapon was involved, a large-scale operation was launched, Martin continues to describe the situation.
Among other things, the police squad, a helicopter and patrols from the entire police area were called in to catch the suspected perpetrator.
The federal police also supported the operation.
On Saturday, users on social networks reported heavily armed police officers wearing helmets and protective vests everywhere in the city center.
In fact, the old town was cordoned off, reports Martin.
In addition, checkpoints and a collection point have been set up on the Morisse.
The fact that the officers arrive well protected and heavily armed is standard when weapons are involved and is part of a low-threshold concept that serves the officers' safety.
However, there was never any danger to the population.
The victim of the attack, a 21-year-old, had to be flown to a hospital in the Christoph 17 rescue helicopter and underwent emergency surgery.
According to Martin, the young man is now out of danger.
