It was something like the largest family reunion of the fire brigades in the district, said District Administrator Thomas Karmasin in his greeting to the district fire brigade association's traditional New Year's reception on Thursday evening in the district office.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- Around 180 guests from politics, the police and the Bundeswehr, but especially from the many blue light organizations, followed the invitation of district fire officer Christoph Gasteiger this year.

It is still too early to talk about it publicly, said Karmasin, but for him the most important task for the fire department in 2024 is to finally get a new emergency camp underway.

The district administrator said optimistically that opportunities had opened up.

During his welcome, Christoph Gasteiger described the many guests of honor as a great appreciation for the fire departments.

What is now opening up in terms of emergency camps could be the biggest win for the fire department.

“So we would finally have a long-running favorite off the ice, so to speak,” said Gasteiger.

Many missions last year

With around 2,500 firefighters, including 402 young people and 246 women, the district fire departments can look back on stable personnel development.

The district fire departments carried out a total of 4,632 missions in 2023. These included 821 fires, 3,145 technical assistance, 259 security guards, 206 first responders and a total of 201 false alarms.

Outstanding events were the 400 missions on July 12th after a thunderstorm front and the onset of winter at the beginning of December with 600 missions within 48 hours.

The company Selmayr Erdbau-Kies-Sand GmbH was awarded a certificate from the state fire brigade association by district fire officer Gasteiger.

In the short laudatory speech, Gasteiger said that the company had been supporting the district fire brigade association for many years by making the company premises available for training free of charge.

The final highlight of the New Year's reception was the official farewell to district fire inspector and Gasteiger's first deputy, Hans Hintersberger from Adelshofen.

District Administrator Thomas Karmasin presented the distinguished firefighter with the certificate of appointment as honorary district fire inspector in recognition of his more than 25 years of service to the fire service.

The guests said goodbye to the well-deserved firefighter with much applause.
