The family business from Gütersloh has successfully fought its way through the pandemic and recently presented good figures.
Now Miele is struggling with the market situation - and is planning to cut jobs.
Gütersloh - The household appliance manufacturer Miele is planning to cut jobs, according to a report by “Manager Magazin”.
Accordingly, the family business from Gütersloh wants to cut around 2,000 jobs worldwide.
A company spokesman announced a statement on Tuesday.
First, management wants to inform the workforce personally.
Miele is managed by two ownership groups.
At the top are Markus Miele (55) and Reinhard Zinkann (66).
At the end of the year, Miele had already announced staff cuts at its washing machine factory in Gütersloh due to a decline in demand.
1,300 people were recently employed here.
Miele has had three strong financial years: In 2022, sales rose by 12.2 percent to 5.43 billion euros, more than ever before in the company's history.
This year the company is celebrating its anniversary: Miele was founded 125 years ago.
The group has around 23,000 employees worldwide, around half of them in Germany.
Around 5,600 people work in Gütersloh.
