Two weeks to create the pop-up restaurant of their dream: this is the challenge launched by the Cooking school: Instructions for use (s) founded by the famous starred chef Thierry Marx to ten beginners from Montereau-Fault-Yonne.

From February 12 to 23, they will have to create their own pop-up, draw up a menu and decorate their restaurant before welcoming their first guests.

Like the famous “restaurant war” test in the television program Top Chef broadcast on M 6, they are expected to be creative.

“This event is aimed at young people and adults who are far from employment, who are not receiving training and who are having difficulty finding lasting employment.

For ten days, in the Montereau family home, they will be put in a situation during discovery workshops.

They will learn recipes, gestures and cooking techniques.

They will thus be able to find out if careers in the hotel industry interest them,” explains Jessica Masson, communications manager at the school.

200,000 positions to be filled in the hotel industry

“This is not certification training as is the case when you join one of our schools.

However, it is a first step to “put people back in a training situation” to use Thierry Marx’s formula.

It is also a way of promoting the catering professions.

It should be remembered that in France, more than 200,000 positions are to be filled and this is likely to increase with the Olympic Games,” explains Véronique Carrion, general director of Cuisine mode d'emploi(s).

Since the creation of Thierry Marx's schools in 2012, the desire has been to reach out to people over 16 years old outside of school, young job seekers, recipients of minimum social benefits and RSA, people placed under the control of the justice system, and beneficiaries of international protection.

It is this same public who is invited to apply for the experience.

“This is the 4th edition.

The event took place successfully in Besançon, Dijon and Nice.

On average after the Pop-up's Story, between 70 and 80% of participants join our catering training,” says Jessica Masson.

In total, there are nine free training schools Cooking: Instructions for use(s).

Short training courses which last eleven weeks and which allow you to graduate in hospitality.

To apply for Pop up's Story in Montereau, simply send an email to: popupstory@cme-formations.com before Thursday February 8.

“We do not exclude the possibility of launching a second event if there are too many registrations,” specifies Véronique Carrion.
