Special companies have to work on the A99, the federal highway 304 and the state highway 2079: Grasbrunn has to repair its noise barriers.

Grasbrunn

– The community of Grasbrunn has three of its own noise barriers.

So far, the building yard has checked these walls itself, but obviously too rarely and not intensively enough.

Now they have to be repaired by specialist companies, which can cost up to 70,000 euros.

1.8 kilometers along A99, 350 meters on B304 in Neukeferloh and 120 meters on St2079 in Harthausen

This is the 1.8 kilometer long noise protection system in Grasbrunn along the A99, plus 350 meters in the Neukeferloh district on federal highway 304 and 120 meters in Harthausen on state highway 2079 at the forestry farm.

According to building authority manager Stephanie Zirngibl, all systems were checked for damage annually by the building administration or the building yard.

“Smaller damage, such as loose wooden coverings on the walls, was repaired by the building yard.

The ramparts, however, were only maintained sporadically and the embankment was mown.”

Hohenbrunn motorway maintenance department has pointed out damage

In the opinion of the engineering office planning at the time, the embankment should be regularly cleared of weeds and the field paths should also be maintained.

“For cost reasons, we have so far kept this to a minimum,” said Stephanie Zirngibl.

After a local inspection, the Hohenbrunn motorway maintenance department alerted the construction administration to damage to the bridge structure on the A99 at the end of November.

There, several of the wooden frames of the panes were badly weathered and parts of them that had broken off threatened to fall onto the farm road below.

Specialists have to repair it

The administration commissioned an engineering firm to inspect the damage, and after an on-site visit it was determined that the damage to the wooden surrounds should be repaired promptly.

“But this requires special equipment, specialists also have to repair it, we cannot and are not allowed to do that ourselves,” said Zirngibl.

The exact cost cannot yet be quantified, but in the worst case scenario you have to calculate up to 70,000 euros.

Cutting back the trees and planting the supports on both sides of the wall

In addition, in order to assess the noise protection systems in Grasbrunn and Neukeferloh, it is necessary to cut back the trees and foliage on the supports on both sides of the wall along the entire length.

Otherwise the wall and its supports would not be accessible with a cherry picker from the highway or the local dirt road.

In addition, the lack of a municipal access road on the property north of Putzbrunner Straße prevents an inspection from the path.

The necessary tree care work should be carried out by a specialist company before the bird protection season begins.

Specialist planners and special companies with expensive equipment have to get involved

“Of course it’s no fun for us to have to pay for it – but there’s probably no other way,” said Mayor Klaus Korneder (SPD).

Thomas Michalka (non-attached) asked why the damage occurred so suddenly. “With wooden slats, you know that the weather will strike.” Stephanie Zirngibl replied that they had always checked and repaired them.

“But that’s no longer enough.

We need specialist planners, special planners, special companies with expensive equipment.

We are no longer allowed to check ourselves, we should never have been allowed to do that.”

Up to 70,000 euros are due

Hannes Bussjäger (FW) advocated that instead of using the wooden slats that hold the transparent Plexiglas panes in place for repairs, “long-lasting material should be used in the future, such as aluminum”.

The local council agreed to commission specialist companies to quickly repair the damage.
