Parisian voters were invited to go to their polling station this Sunday, February 4, to express their views on differentiated pricing for SUVs.

In certain districts of the capital, several mayors took the opportunity to organize a second consultation in the citizen vote in order to obtain the opinion of their constituents on questions specific to their district.

Six districts were affected by these subsidiary votes.

In Paris Center, 71.51% of votes for the rehabilitation of Place du Louvre

Ariel Weil, the mayor of Paris Center - made up of the first four arrondissements of the capital - consulted his constituents on the redevelopment project for Place du Louvre (Ist).

A file discussed by elected officials for months already, which aims to completely review the pedestrian square and the revegetation of this extremely dense and busy sector of the city, considered by the councilor as “a wasteland covered in sand” .

To the question “For or against the significant redevelopment of the Place du Louvre, making more room for pedestrians, vegetation and public transport?”

», 71.51% of the votes cast, or 3,100 people, declared themselves in favor of the project.

In total, 6.46% of those registered on the electoral lists of Paris Center participated in this vote.

In the 8th, a majority “against” pedestrianization and greening

Two ballots also in the 8th arrondissement.

Mayor (LR) Jeanne D'Hauteserre questioned her constituents on several road axes in her sector: citizens had to answer the question: "For or against accelerating the pedestrianization and greening of roads in the 8th arrondissement and more particularly certain portions of rue Monceau and rue de Liège?

".

With a participation rate of 8.69%, the vote this time received a majority of ballots against since only 41.08% of the inhabitants of the 8th arrondissement declared themselves in favor of this measure, i.e. 907 voters.

In the 10th, residents want to pedestrianize and green Boulevard Magenta

“For or against reserving the sidewalks of Boulevard de Magenta for pedestrians and creating new secure cycle paths on the road?

» This is the question to which the citizens of Alexandra Cordebard, mayor (PS) of the 10th arrondissement, were asked.

Here, it was the “for” side who won hands down with 75.83% of voters in favor (2,930) of this pedestrianization compared to 24.17% saying they were opposed (934).

This vote recorded a participation rate of 6.8%.

“It is absolutely vital that we breathe better, on the Quai de Valmy as on the Boulevard de Magenta, near our stations as in our suburbs,” declared the city councilor in his speech on January 20.

This large-scale project, in line with the developments carried out in our district on rue La Fayette (and those carried out on avenue de la République in the 11th), would, according to the latter, allow us to “completely reconfigure this busy artery while continuing to improve comfort and the safety of all.”

In the 12th century, more space for young people

Here again, "as an extension of the proactive policy carried out in favor of improving the quality of pedestrian mobility, safer travel and better accessibility of public spaces", the mayor (EELV) of XIIth, Emmanuelle Pierre-Marie, questioned citizens on the security of public spaces frequented by young people.

The residents of the district had to answer the following question: “For or against the creation of new pedestrianized spaces around municipal facilities frequented by children (crèches, libraries, gymnasiums, etc.)?”

With a participation rate of 6.2%, 4,000 voters, or 69.88% of the votes cast, said they were in favor of this measure this Sunday, February 4, and 1,724 "against", or 30.12%.

“For” a solidarity food fund in the 20th century

Following an exchange between the district mayors, the City and the control commission, the inhabitants of the 20th arrondissement were invited to give their opinion on a theme slightly different from those discussed in the other sectors, namely “the experiment of a solidarity food fund”.

4.35% of 20th century residents went to the polls on Sunday, among whom 81.86% (4,161 people) said they were in favor of this measure.

Only 18.14% (922) of them voted “against”.

This fund, inspired by the social security system, would allow citizens to “increase their purchasing power and access quality food”.

“I am delighted with this vote.

Furthermore, Paris is a city that has been fighting for a long time on this issue of food.

Nearly 82% of the 2,009 voters in the 5th arrondissement voted “in favor” of changing the street furniture in this square and replacing the planters.
