President of Russia
Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russian weapons were “clearly superior” to NATO weapons.
Moscow - "If we compare modern NATO equipment, the equipment of the last period of the Soviet era is inferior in some respects, but not always," Vladimir Putin said, according to Russian state agent
Tass
last Friday.
Putin spoke about Russian and NATO weapons at a meeting with Russian defense industry workers in Tula.
Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, the tone between Russia and NATO has become even sharper after NATO announced the start of the major exercise Steadfest Defender.
A Russian diplomat suspects a NATO plan for the military defense of the so-called Suwalki Gap on the border between Poland and Lithuania.
In addition, Russia had already threatened “tragic consequences”.
Vladimir Putin: “If you take our newest weapons, they are clearly superior in everything”
According to Putin, some of the old weapons are inferior.
But the Russian president said: “And if you take our newest weapons, they are clearly superior to anything.
This is an obvious fact.” Since the beginning of Ukraine, 510,000 positions have been created in the defense industry.
And just recently, Putin emphasized that no other country has weapons like Russia.
At the meeting, Putin again said that the invasion of Ukraine began to protect Russian-speaking people in Ukraine.
He also used it to thwart threats to Russian security from the USA and NATO.
Putin praises Russian defense industry
Putin also claimed that the Russian defense industry "shows a very good pace and quality of work" and that the superior weapons it produces include "missile equipment, armored vehicles and everything used on the battlefield."

It was only at the end of January that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out the danger of an escalation of the war in Ukraine with nuclear weapons.
Ukrainian successes currently fall short of international expectations.
But there are also repeated reports of defects in Russian weapons - as recently as the end of January there were reports of the poor quality of Russia's hypersonic missiles.
