Nobody expected this: Singer Céline Dion, who suffers from a rare illness, presented the “Best Album of the Year” category at the 2024 Grammys.
Los Angeles – The seriously ill singer Céline Dion (55) caused a surprise with an appearance at this year's Grammys.
The Canadian is one of the world's most successful artists and has been an absolute superstar since her Titanic hit "My Heart Will Go On".
But that alone wasn't the reason why the star-filled hall greeted the singer with thunderous applause.

Dion suffers from a rare neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome, as she explained some time ago.
The singer struggles with muscle cramps and sometimes has problems walking and singing.
For this reason, she had to cancel all dates of her “Courage World Tour” in Europe planned for 2023 and 2024.
Just last week, she said she wanted to chronicle her battle with her illness in the documentary "I Am: Celine Dion."
The fact that she appeared at the 66th Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (local time) came as a surprise.
The singer was able to present the “Best Album of the Year” category.
“Thank you, I love you just as much!
When I say I'm happy to be here, I really mean it from the bottom of my heart," said the visibly touched singer with a smile on her face.

“Those lucky enough to attend the Grammy Awards should never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people around the world,” said Dion.
She then read Taylor Swift as the winner in the Album of the Year category.
Swift, who is currently causing panic among Republicans, won the award in the category for the fourth time with “Midnights,” making music history.
But the winner caused a small scandal: Taylor Swift received a lot of criticism online for her behavior on stage.
The singer entered the stage with several friends, hugged everyone warmly, but hardly took any notice of Céline Dion.
She didn't greet her or even really look her in the face when she received the Grammy.
She also didn't mention the singer in her speech.
However, a photo later made the rounds showing the two stars arm in arm after the award ceremony.
So in the end everything seemed to be fine.
