Snam is launching, together with Confindustria, a market test on hydrogen demand in Italy starting from 7 February and, in collaboration with Eni, a collection of non-binding expressions of interest for the transport and storage of CO2 at the Ravenna site.
The initiatives, explains a note, are part of the broader framework of Snam's activities aimed at supporting the country's energy transition.
The synergy with Confindustria will allow us to identify and explore two strategic markets for the pursuit of Italian and European decarbonisation objectives with the various associated manufacturing and energy-intensive realities.
The information collected will be made available to the institutions involved in defining the reference legislative and regulatory framework, and will constitute an important reference for planning the development of the hydrogen and Ccs supply chains in Italy.
"In an energy scenario like the current one, security and energy transition are two sides of the same coin", comments Piero Ercoli, executive director Decarbonization of Snam.
"The extraordinary events that have occurred in recent years have forcefully highlighted the issues of strategic independence and national and European energy security, making it essential to adopt new solutions capable of reconciling the objectives of environmental sustainability with those of industrial policy and socio-economic stability ", says Raffaele Langella, general director of Confindustria.
Both initiatives will be presented through a dedicated webinar, which will take place at 11am on 7 February and which can be followed online.
The activities will end on April 5 and the results will be shared in aggregate form by the third quarter of 2024.
