After a meeting with intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin in Doha, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyya also met with government partner Hüda Par in Turkey.
Doha – The Turkish government continues to hold talks with the terrorist militia Hamas.
Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın met with Ismail Haniyya, one of the leaders of Hamas, in Doha.
According to the state news agency
Anadolu Ajansi,
the meeting discussed the prisoner exchange, developments in the Gaza Strip, the ceasefire and ways to end the siege.
The meeting also focused on the issue of humanitarian care for the Palestinian population.
Both sides are also said to have discussed the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Hamas also meets with Islamist Hüda Par
There have also been talks between the Hamas leadership and the Islamist Hüda Par, the government partner of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AKP.
This was confirmed by the leader of Hüda Par, Zekeriya Yapicioglu.
“We had a very productive exchange of ideas with my dear brother, Mr. Ismail Haniyya,” Yapicioglu wrote on X.
“We stand by the just and legitimate struggle of the Palestinian resistance against the Zionist occupation and genocide until the end.
We will continue to support our brothers and sisters,” it added.
Yapicioglu announced the end of the “Zionist occupation regime”.
Haniyya and Yapicioglu also emphasized the need for Islamic countries to join forces “against the Zionist occupation and genocide.”
The conversation took place on Sunday (February 4, 2024).
AKP helps Hüda Par get into parliament
The Hüda Par entered parliament through a trick in the 2023 Turkish election.
Four of Hüda Par's top candidates, including party leader Yapicioglu, were placed in promising positions in the ruling AKP party and were thus able to enter parliament.
In return, Hüda Par supported Erdogan in the elections.
This mutual support had also existed in elections in the past.

For this reason, at least 273 convicted members of Turkish Hezbollah were apparently released from prison between 2018 and 2021.
In the court case, party leader and lawyer Yapicioglu represented the Hezbollah members who were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Because of “procedural errors,” the men were gradually released.
Hüda Par is considered the political arm of Turkish Hezbollah.

Türkiye remains a haven for Hamas
Turkey is considered a safe haven for Hamas.
After Hamas' attack on Israel, Erdogan described the terrorist militia as a "liberation organization."
The Turkish head of state had also warned Israel against carrying out operations against Hamas members in Turkey.
In the past there had also been meetings between Hamas and Erdogan himself in Turkey.
A ceasefire is a long time coming
There is no ceasefire in sight in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken set off on another trip to the Middle East.
Blinken is expected to discuss a proposal for a ceasefire drawn up at a meeting in Paris in January by top officials from the United States, Israel, Egypt and Qatar.
According to Hamas circles, the proposal envisages suspending the fighting for an initial six weeks while the Islamist Palestinian organization releases hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
However, Hamas said no agreement had yet been reached.
