While we are still awaiting the appointment of delegate ministers, this will be one of the projects of the new government: to carry out the reform of state medical aid (AME), which allows foreigners in an irregular situation to benefit from 100% coverage of medical care.
During discussions on the immigration law, the debate heated up on the AME.
The right wanted to replace it with emergency medical aid (AMU), refocused on the prophylaxis and treatment of serious illnesses and urgent care, pregnancy-related care, vaccination and predictive medicine examinations.
The left was hostile to any reform.
And the majority was divided on the subject.
For its part, the medical profession, almost unanimously, affirmed that it would continue to treat any patient who presented with a health problem, whatever their status.
