The case of Amanda Knox will return to court on April 10 in Florence.

According to what ANSA has learned, the trial date has been set in which the judges will once again have to rule on the three-year prison sentence (already already served) for the slander accused by the American against Patrick Lumumba for what she declared in the early stages of the investigation into the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Crime committed in Perugia on the evening of November 1, 2007 and for which Knox was definitively acquitted.

The new trial linked to slander will be celebrated after the fifth criminal section of the Cassation, accepting a request from the American's defenders, the lawyers Luca Luparia Donati and Carlo Dalla Vedova, revoked and annulled the sentences with which Knox was convicted for having involved Lumumba, who was later recognized as a stranger and therefore acquitted.

A decision made possible by the new article, 628 bis, of the criminal procedure code which provides for the possibility of requesting the elimination of "prejudicial effects" deriving from a violation that has been ascertained by the European Court of Human Rights, that of right of defense in Knox's case.

The Court therefore ordered the "referral for a new examination on the point" in Florence.

It is not yet clear whether Knox will be in court.

"I'm not afraid of returning to Italy to defend myself, I was unprepared at 20 but after all these years I'm ready. And I want my children to see what it means to fight for the truth" she recently wrote on suffer a heavier sentence than the three years that were inflicted on her for the slander (to which she proclaims she was not involved) and already served with the almost four spent in prison between 6 November 2007 and 4 October 2011 when she was acquitted in the trial appeal held in Perugia and then released from prison.
