US nuclear weapons return to Britain.
The move is part of a broader NATO program.
Russia threatens consequences.
Thetford - The ever-increasing sense of threat from Russia and the Ukraine war reached a new level of consequence.
For the first time in 15 years, the US plans to store nuclear weapons in Britain.
This is reported by
The Telegraph,
with access to relevant Pentagon documents.
What was already discussed last year is now being actively prepared: Corresponding contracts have already been concluded with RAF Lakenheath, in the southeast of England.
Several voices in the USA and Great Britain previously warned that a war with Russia was being prepared and that the army was currently too small.
In 2008, the United States' nuclear weapons were removed after years of protest.
The return of American weapons is part of a NATO-wide rearmament program.
When asked by the US portal
Newsweek, the British Ministry of Defense said:
“It remains a long-standing policy of the United Kingdom and NATO not to confirm or deny the presence of nuclear weapons at any given location.”
Russian Ambassador Gatilov reacts: Russia is watching in order to “react accordingly”
Meanwhile, Russia's permanent ambassador to the UN, Genndady Gatilov, promised
Russia-24
that Russia would respond if the US stationed nuclear weapons in Great Britain.
“There is also talk of the possibility of sending nuclear weapons to the Baltic states, to Poland,” Gatilov explained.

“All of this creates a tense situation.
We are watching developments move in this direction.
If this is the case, Russia will of course be forced to react accordingly,” the Kremlin representative continued.
He did not say what exactly such a reaction might be.
