Garching had to wait a long time for a new house for the VHS - director Lothar Stetz sees some catching up to do there.
And has lots of ideas.
Ismaning
– Citizens in the municipalities of the northern district have extensive reading material in their mailboxes these days.
The Adult Education Center (VHS) North is distributing the new semester program in Ismaning, Unterföhring, Unter- and Oberschleißheim.
This includes exactly 1539 offers.
The offer organized 39,000 teaching hours with 580 lecturers.
The numerous lectures are dedicated to current topics in a turbulent world marked by crises.

Three events are dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Immanuel Kant.
The offer ranges from language lessons and photography courses to excursions and exercise activities.

She took over the central area from Maria Geier, who retired last semester.
In addition to many classic exercise options and cooking courses, there are also very exciting-sounding suggestions such as “Quick Cooking” or “Yoga for Special Needs”.
Expansion of the show series from poetry slam to science show
One new thing this year is the expansion of the show series.
An integral part of the program in Ismaning is the poetry show “Dichter ran ans Wort”, with which the VHS Nord made contact with younger participants.
With the opening of the new building, the Science Show was added, and this format has long since become an integral part of the program.
Open stage in the new building in Garching
The new building opened in Garching last year, and there is also a hall there for shows with many spectators.
Garching gets the Open Stage, where people can come forward and show off their own talents for ten minutes.
The adult education center makes this offer in collaboration with the Garching Music School.
For VHS director Lothar Stetz, the experiment is particularly exciting because you don't really know what the VHS expects.

“Let's play – The Improv Show in Ismaning” also fits into the package of show formats.
There are also two improvisational theater courses accompanying the show.

“We still have a lot to catch up on in Garching,” says VHS director Lothar Stetz clearly.
In the university town, there has been a shortage of space in recent years due to a lack of space.
Stetz is now looking forward to great opportunities for catching up.
He emphasizes that in the new building we have a strong partner and good cooperation with the neighborhood help group.

Registration for courses
The new VHS Nord program was printed with a circulation of 53,000 copies and distributed to all households in the four member municipalities of Unterschleißheim, Ismaning, Garching and Unterföhring.
