After the rally against right-wing extremism last Sunday, organizer Florian Völler was satisfied - but he missed clubs and young voters.
Geretsried
– As reported, around 1,000 demonstrators took a stand against right-wing extremism, agitation and hatred on Karl-Lederer-Platz on Sunday.
Organizer Florian Völler was expecting around 500 participants.
“Basically, I’m happy with how things went,” said the Geretsrieder on Monday when asked by our newspaper.
“Everything was peaceful, there were no incidents.”
The organizer was missing two things from the demo
However, Völler was missing two things: firstly, a stronger presence from the clubs.
“The only club that I saw that actively presented itself was the ASC Geretsried.” One of the demo initiators’ wishes would have been for more associations and organizations to have called for participation in the event in advance.
His hopes for “a little more presence” from young people of voting age, such as middle school and senior students, were also dashed.
Young people are actually showing “more and more political interest”.
Völler can only speculate as to why this was not achieved more clearly in Geretsried.
“Maybe it was because there was a parallel demonstration in Penzberg?”

The event is said to not have been the last of its kind in the district
After all: Since Sunday, the Geretsrieder has only received “consistently positive reactions” to “his” event.
Völler: “For example, people liked the breadth of the speakers.
And our message is that people are allowed to have different opinions.” The Geretsried resident is not initially planning another demo in the largest city in the district.
“That was a lot of organizational and administrative effort,” he admits.
But Florian Völler promises one thing: the event will not be the last of its kind in the district.
Whether in the form of demonstrations, rallies or workshops – he clearly announces: “It will definitely continue.”
