The Garching local community has a different kind of youth problem: it has more and more young members.

That's why he's now founding a new youth dance group.

Garching – The Garching local association is growing and growing.

The number of young people in particular is increasing, which is why the board has decided to found a third children's and youth dance group.

The weekly training for the little ones aged four and over starts on Friday, February 9th at 5 p.m. in the “Hochbrück” rehearsal room in the community center.

“After the pandemic, we got a lot of growth,” says youth leader Markus Hochlahner, who has been a member of the local community since childhood.

In addition to the adult dance group and the Schuhplattler group, there is a children's and a youth group.

“That wasn’t enough anymore,” says Hochlahner, who runs the training together with three committed young women in their early 20s.

“We have had a lot of children of kindergarten age join us.” That’s why the new group is intended for boys and girls from the age of four.

Dancing should be fun

Who can take part?

“Actually anyone who wants to do it,” says Hochlahner.

“Dancing should be fun.

For us - especially at that age - it's more of a playful structure.

Folk dances are also rather funny dances.” At a young age, the boys and girls learn traditional dances such as Bauernmadl and seven-step.

Waltz and polka are added later.

If you want to go one step further, learn Schuhplatteln and Derndldrahn.

“It’s not that easy,” says Hochlahner.

What has been rehearsed is shown in Garching, for example during the street festival or the Kulturbrettl.

“We also regularly go to the nursing home.

There is always great joy,” says the youth leader.

The people of Garching also took part in the traditional costume and rifle parade at the Oktoberfest and performed at the Oidn Wiesn.

This summer the local history association is also at the state horticultural show in Kirchheim.

Club provides traditional costume

The club provides young members up to the age of 18 with the traditional costume, which is predominantly blue.

“We have a large inventory; we even have Haferl shoes in various sizes,” says Hochlahner.

Through the dance groups, the children should grow into the local association, which now has almost 400 members.

“This is a club for the whole family.” Since the pandemic, the sense of community has grown a bit and the many events such as the morning pint, the regulars' table and the ox dinner are well attended.

The maypole is also set up in Garching by the local community.

“We are present in town and show what we do.

That’s why we don’t have a problem with young talent,” says Markus Hochlahner.
