Israel's National Security Minister apologized on Tuesday after his son made fun of US President Joe Biden on social network X, suggesting he had Alzheimer's disease.
“Shuvael is my son and I love him but last night he made a big mistake with a tweet that I deeply disapprove of,” wrote Itamar Ben Gvir, also on X. “The United States is our greatest friends and President Biden is a friend of Israel,” he continued.
There is no room for “derogatory” comments.
Shuvael Ben Gvir, 18, published a photo of Mr. Biden, 81, on Monday evening, saying it was “important to raise awareness” about Alzheimer’s disease “which is the most common cause of cognitive decline and dementia in older people.
The post was subsequently deleted, and following in his father's footsteps, Shuvael Ben-Gvir apologized on his account to his approximately 2,800 subscribers.
“Mr President, sorry!
“, he wrote.

Joe Biden confuses Macron with Mitterrand….
and France with Germany
The age of Joe Biden, who is aiming for a second term, has already been the subject of mockery in the past and American conservatives, in particular, attribute to him a declining lucidity.
A survey conducted by the Siena Institute in six key American states, and published by the New York Times in 2023, revealed that 71% of voters found him too old to be president.
Leader of the Jewish Force party, Itamar Ben Gvir is part of Benjamin Netanyahu's government, one of the most right-wing in Israeli history.
Itamar Ben Gvir himself used to outrageous outings
He himself is accustomed to making outrageous and sometimes mocking statements.
The minister recently attacked the Biden administration by claiming that its support for humanitarian aid to Gaza benefited the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
“The United States is our best friend but above all, we will do what is good for the State of Israel: the migration of hundreds of thousands (of people) from Gaza will allow residents (Israelis, Editor's note) to the envelope (from Gaza, Editor's note) to return home and live in safety,” he posted again on X.

Last summer, Mr. Ben Gvir said that “President Biden had to digest the fact that Israel was no longer just one star among others on the American flag” after Joe Biden had mentioned “very extreme members” of the Israeli government as being “part of the problem” of Israel.
The United States remains Israel's first diplomatic and military ally, engaged in a war in Gaza since the unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israeli soil on October 7.
