After it became known that King Charles had cancer, the question arises as to who will take over his appointments if he is absent for a long period of time.
London - After King Charles (75)'s shocking cancer diagnosis, he will be out for an indefinite period of time.
But who will then take over his appointments?
Heir to the throne Prince William (41) currently has his hands full looking after his wife Kate (42), who also recently had an operation and is out until Easter, and the children.
King Charles has cancer: who will take over his duties now?
For some time now, Queen Camilla (76) was the only one of Britain's top royals to attend public appointments.
But according to “bunte.de”, she will probably not be able to take over the throne if King Charles, who has already appeared once again after his operation, is out for a longer period of time.
When the father of Queen Elizabeth II († 96), King George VI, died, his successor was his daughter and not his wife, Queen Mum († 101).
Prince William has planned to resume his duties from tomorrow, February 7th.
But whether he would be ready to take over the office of king now, regardless of the current difficult situation, is uncertain.
After all, he hasn't had much time to grow into his new role as heir to the throne and his and Kate's children are still quite young.
King Charles' cancer: Will Princess Anne now become interim queen?
Since the birth of William's first son Prince George (10), Prince Harry (39) is no longer number two in line to the throne and, as is well known, has also withdrawn from royal life.
And King Charles' brother Andrew, 63, has had his reputation ruined since photos of him emerged as part of the Epstein scandal.
Things are different for Charles' sister Princess Anne (73), who is considered very hardworking.
As “Bunte” reports, royal editor Sarah Hewson sees her as the most likely interim queen: “Princess Anne would probably step in.”
We can only hope that King Charles will recover quickly and that this question will not even arise in the end.
This is what is known so far about King Charles' condition.
