A few days before Weiberfastnacht, the band Eldorado is anything but in a carnival mood.
A KoDrop incident occurred at a party.
Before the celebrations for Weiberfastnacht (February 8th) and Shrove Monday (February 12th), Cologne police and Henning Krautmacher, former Höhner singer, made important appeals to the celebrants.
In Cologne, a strict security concept applies during the carnival days - including numerous closures.

The band Eldorado is shocked: “At a very traditional carnival party,” as singer Manuel Sauer says, his girlfriend was given knockout drops.
Although she is doing well, “according to the circumstances, she is fine,” says Manuel - but the singer, who is still visibly shaken in the video, also explicitly points out the dangers that can come from knockout drops.
“What really shocks me is that we're getting a lot of news that this is not an isolated case at Fastelovend and seems to be becoming more and more fashionable.” The band is therefore drawing conclusions.
Weiberfastnacht and Rose Monday – Cologne becomes a party zone at Carnival

Police before carnival in Cologne – “take aggressors out of traffic early”

The Cologne police are also preparing for the carnival days - and in this context once again reminds the celebrants of the prevention campaign “It's a dress, not a yes”.
“Precisely because when alcoholism increases, inhibitions often fall and people are sexually harassed, we started the campaign, which is currently very popular, particularly on social media.
Anyone who comes to Cologne should know that the celebrants are sensitized and that the police will intervene early in the event of harassment,” explains operations manager Martin Lotz.
At the opening of the carnival session there are often many operations for the police and public order offices.

“Everyone should have fun and get home safely.
This year we are again preparing for an alcohol-related increase in aggression on Thursday afternoons.
“We will remove those who prevent others from celebrating peacefully,” it added.
In addition, people who will be traveling in motor vehicles must expect increased alcohol controls.
“This particularly applies to those who get around cities with an e-scooter,” it continues.

Carnival compact from February 5th:
Together with the ensemble of the play “Himmel und Kölle”, Höhner legend Henning Krautmacher is making an important appeal to the Jecken just in time for the start of the street carnival.
The police have launched the “It's a dress, not a yes” campaign, which is intended to protect (young) women from stupid sayings, grabbing, being hit on or more during Fastelovend.
The long-time Höhner frontman is of course happy to join in with this appeal.
“We are taking part in an action by the Cologne police, which translated into Cologne means something like: Costuming does not mean seduction, and certainly does not mean touching,” said the singer.

The countdown is on: preparations for the Cologne Carnival are already underway throughout the city.
The first diversions for women's carnival were set up.
And for the Rose Monday procession, the carnival information signs have already been set up along the route.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Cologne Carnival, the Rose Monday parade took place on the right bank of the Rhine for the first time in 2023.
But this year everything is going back to normal.
The fun parade runs on February 12th from Severinstrasse across the Cologne city center district to Mohrenstrasse.
As usual, current topics from politics, sport and business, but also society and city life are parodied on some of the floats.

Carnival has long been an issue again in politics.
NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) caused enthusiasm with an ironic costume at a carnival meeting in Cologne's Gürzenich festival hall.
Wüst appeared on Friday evening (February 2nd) dressed as the self-proclaimed “Insta President” with a large Instagram frame.
The Prime Minister came up with the idea after the opposition in the state parliament criticized his high social media presence.
“I wasn't elected Insta President, but I was, in a sense, appointed by the SPD - and I was so happy about this title that my costume for this year became clear very quickly,” explained Wüst.

The countdown is on: In a few days it will be Weiberfastnacht - and the city will be in party mode.
The first preparations are already underway in Cologne.
Individual diversions and initial closures are being prepared.
The basis for this is the new security concept for Carnival 2024. And there are two big changes this year, which is intended to prevent chaos due to too many celebrants.
What will the weather be like on Weiberfastnacht and Rose Monday in Cologne?

There is not yet an exact forecast for the weather at Cologne Carnival, but an initial trend can be seen for Weiberfastnacht (February 8th) and Shrove Monday (February 12th).
But it's only partially reassuring.
“An exact forecast is difficult, but the weather situation currently indicates a slight high pressure,” a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) told 24RHEIN.
Specifically: “It’s getting colder rather than warmer.”
Cologne Carnival 2024: That's why the 2024 session is particularly short

This year the session is particularly short.
In 2024, Women's Carnival falls on Thursday, February 8th.
This means that Rose Monday falls on February 12th.
This means that Ash Wednesday falls on February 14th and the session is already over in mid-February.
This is because Carnival is based on Easter.
There must always be exactly 46 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday - this is how long Lent lasts in Christianity.
Easter is again based on the first full moon of spring - and that is quite early this year.

The session motto and the triumvirate in the Cologne Carnival 2024
Carnival compact from February 2nd:
The session motto for 2024 is “Wat e Theater – Wat e Jeckespill”.
“Whether on the big world stage or in the heated atmosphere of social media: a little more Cologne calm would do people good,” explains Christoph Kuckelkorn, President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee.
By the way: There will also be a matching motto scarf for the Cologne Carnival 2024.
The biggest and most important question for a long time: Who will be the Cologne triumvirate in 2024?
In mid-August, the Cologne triumvirate was officially presented in 2024 - and comes from one family.
Since the session opened on November 11th.
Prince Sascha I, farmer Werner and Jungfrau Frieda from the Klupsch family and from the company KG Treuer Husar Blau-Gelb from 1925 eV rule. The prince is the son of the virgin and nephew of the farmer.
